What began as one crafter’s wish to bring smiles and comfort to congenital heart patients and their families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital with her handmade cards has grown into a card drive, bringing smiles to heart patients beyond Columbus, Ohio.
About Cards for Little Hearts
Cards for Little Hearts is a card drive, comprised of volunteered crafters dedicated to bringing smiles, hope, and encouragement to congenital heart patients by providing Heart Center staff with handmade cards that are given to patients during their hospitalization. The card drive, started in 2016, is organized by Christina Hor (pronounced HALL) and her family from her Ohio home and is opens to crafters of all ages, children and adults, of any skill level. If you love cardmaking and love bringing joy to others with your cards, we invite you to come takes part in Cards for Little Hearts with us. Currently, we have two collections in which you can participate in: Heart-Themed cards (collection in January) and the Winter & Holiday cards (collection in October). Please check out the GUIDELINES prior to making your card.
IMPORTANT! Cards for Little Hearts is NOT an organization. Therefore, your expenses (craft supplies and postage cost) are not deductible on your tax returns.
Hospitals We Currently Sending Smiles To (Updated June 2020)
In light of the COVID-19 situation, for the health safety of our family and staff, effective June 2020, we decided to closed the card drive for the remainder 2020 year. To further minimize exposing ourselves to the virus, starting January 2021, we will only be distributing cards locally to heart patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital here in Ohio.
